I See You, My Black Man

I see you, My Black Man

Grooming tight cuts and handsome fades
Looking sharp as a tack
Working tirelessly sun up and sun down
Just know, I got your back

I see the sweat on your brow
Making it in the world not your own
I speak upon you blessing of endurance
Like an African King on a throne

I see you praying for our kids
While discipline because you care
I see the educator, business man, inventor
I see you everywhere

I see the tears you cry at night
When the world flips her nose
I see you laying it at the altar
Courageous, Unrelenting and Bold

I see you my Black Man
When others turn their heads
I see you tucking in the little ones
Making sure they are safe in their beds

I see you driving the distance trucks
Directing the choir, singing a melody
I pray for you daily and bless you
Walk in boldness and integrity

I see the scoutmaster, the little league coach
Dedicating time to help another
I see you my Black Man, tirelessly  fighting
 A Father,  A Friend, a Brother

I see you my black man, molded in His likeness
Preaching the word, sowing good seed
I see your arms stretched with praise
While agonizing on your knees

I see you my Black Man
In shades from butter to ebony black
As a wife, mother, grandmother, sister, friend
Through the good and the bad, I got your back!

The World Will Never Know....

The world will never know
What you could have become
You’re never graduate college
Marry your love, or bless your first son

My stream of tears have tried
To seal the cracks deep in my heart
It feels like a still red dot
Enduring a fearless powerful dart

Yet, I know the Lord is
Greater than the details of your death
I’ll continue giving Him Praises
Everyday with my first breath.

Rest in Peace, Trayvon Martin
Praying for Justice in His name
I bless my three sons, praying
That your life, death was not in vain.
